Term 4 started with all students studying a language at Unit 3 and 4 level completing their speaking exams. Congratulations to these students on their preparation in the lead up to the exam, and it was great to see lots of smiles as students left the exam centre.

Chinese students in Years 7-9 enjoyed Mooncakes and Chinese pastries to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival. They sampled a variety of flavours and types, compared traditional and modern styles, and expressed their preferences in Chinese. This cultural experience deepened their understanding of festival traditions while providing a delicious end-of-term learning opportunity.

The Year 7 Chinese students continued working on their last topic describing people, but with a creative twist — they designed their own monster dolls and described them using Chinese. Students used imagination, creativity and language skills to name their monster, talk about their age, home, appearance, personality, and even superpowers. Fantastic work, everyone!

As part of their Term 4 ALT, Year 8 French students wrote and recorded their own French Travel show. Students really enjoyed this task and were very creative in how to speak about their chosen French speaking destination.

Year 8 Chinese students took part in a collaborative Creator and Communicator task. They read a full Chinese text and transformed it into an English web page, then selected an image to match their content. There was great teamwork, lots of learning, and plenty of laughs.

Year 9 Chinese students recently completed their first informative Chinese writing (over 250 words all in Chinese Characters).

Year 9 French classes spent some time this term creating children story book written entirely in French. I would like to highlight the creativity and hard work put into this task and it has been great to read through the different stories.

Finally, I would like to thank Manon Carpentier, our French Assistant, for her work this year. Manon has worked closely with the Year 11 and 12 French classes, with a particular focus on improving their speaking skills. These students have really enjoyed working with Manon, getting to know her and improving their French skills. Manon has also been able to assist in some of the 7-10 French classes, and has also worked with students after school two days a week, as well as creating resources to be used in French classes across all year levels. It has been fantastic for our school to have a French assistant this year and Manon will be missed by both staff and students when she returns to France next year.
