Year 7 Geography Excursion to Edendale Farm

On the 11 and 12 May, Year 7 Geography students went to Edendale Farm in Eltham to engage in interactive activities around their current unit ‘Water in the World’.

Students were able to test the water quality across multiple waterways such as Diamond Creek and explore the impacts of human activities on rivers from the source to the river mouth.

Students also enjoyed a farm tour around Edendale, where they were able to feed some of the animals and learn about how water is conserved and used at the farm.

This term, Year 8 Geography students have been learning how to read topographic maps, developing their ability to interpret contour lines and contour intervals and transform a two-dimensional map into a visual understanding of a three-dimensional landscape.

Students demonstrated excellent concentration, perseverance and teamwork as they tackled this challenging aspect of Geography, while also expanding their use of specialised geographical vocabulary.
