Assistant Principal's Report
by Mr Greg Breese, Assistant Principal
The process for students selecting their pathways and subjects for 2027 will begin at the end of Term 2. This is an exciting opportunity for students to make decisions about their studies next year.
Students from Year 8 onwards have elective subjects, with students able to increasingly focus their studies on their areas of strength and interest as they progress into the senior year levels.
The key resources that will support students with the course selection process are:
Year level assemblies, where the subject selection process is explained
Subject selection Handbooks, which explain the course selection process, the course options, and the supports available to students
Course selection expos, where students can speak first-hand with the teachers and current students of different subjects
Course advising sessions for Year 9 to Year 11 students

The last few weeks of Term 2 have been full of many events for our Year 9 and 10 students.
Year 9 Camp
This term, students in classes 9A - 9E finished their combined civics and mathematics inquiry project. The work involved investigating a topic connected to inclusion within Melbourne, and it featured an overnight camp experience in the city as well as a presentation in which students shared what they had discovered with Year 8 students. The purpose of the inquiry project is to spark deep thinking and prompt students to question, explore, solve problems, work together, and reflect.
Duke of Ed Camp

Duke of Edinburgh Award students had their first camp earlier this term, staying one night in the Cathedral Ranges. This camp is important preparation for the three-night camp in December and forms part of the students’ adventurous journey for completing the award.
I was fortunate enough to join the students on their hike on the first day this year, which included some rock scrambling to climb up to a view of the surrounding valley.
