Term 2 Media Production

Year 11 Media students at BHHS recently completed an exciting and highly creative unit as part of Unit 1 Outcome 2: Media Forms in Production

Across this project, students worked collaboratively in production teams to plan, film, and edit together short films and theatrical release trailers, enhanced through the creation of an accompanying theatrical release poster.

From the early stages of scriptwriting, storyboarding, and location scouting around the school through to filming and post-production, students demonstrated impressive growth in both their technical skills and creative thinking.

All five production teams showed a strengthening ability in their camera work, editing, sound design, and visual storytelling, with a range of genres explored including horror, comedy, and neo-noir!

A highlight of the unit was seeing how students used industry-based practices to bring their ideas to life, often filming outside of school hours and experimenting as a team with treatments, script writing and industry editing techniques to refine their final products. The accompanying posters also reflected thoughtful design, with students applying real-world conventions to engage their audience.

This unit not only builds practical production skills, but also teamwork, problem-solving, and creative confidence. The quality of work produced highlights why Media students are one of the most dynamic and creative cohorts in BHHS, where we have a long history of students making their way into professional industry beyond Year 12.
