Year 3 - ‘Mechanics & Magnetism’

This week the Year 3 students have been putting their understanding of forces and motion to the test. They have been challenged to sketch and design a car that will work by the power of the sun. We are learning the basics of a 3D modelling app called makers empire to hopefully bring their creations to life!

Year 4 - ‘Thermodynamics!’

The Year 4 students have spent the last two weeks understanding the different states of matter and how heat and molecules interact. They have made some excellent posters that will be used to explain their understanding to younger students.

Year 5- ‘Optics: Absorbed, Reflected & Refracted’

Taking shadows to the next level, the Year 5 students have spent the last two weeks designing and putting on a shadow puppy show. There have been some really interesting and complex designs and characters that have been created. We have also been linking this learning to their literacy by incorporating the in class scaffolding to support the students' stories.

Year 6 - ‘Electronic Product Development and Design’

It was all about testing and measuring this week in Year 6. Students' electrical products are moving along and we are now measuring and recording the component parts to make sure they will fit in their product casing. We have also been building series and parallel circuits to see how components react to breakage.
