Plots, plots and more plots

Reading/Writing 

We have been learning all about our new Humanities topic: Business and Economics. 

We have been learning all about supply and demand, goods and services and needs and wants. We have read articles about fast fashion and used them to make informed consumer choices and we have read about the history of a company and learned about the goods or services they produce. In Writing we have been coming up with a business idea and writing a business plan explaining how we will meet the needs of our consumers and make a profit. 

Maths 

We have been learning how to read and solve multi-step worded  problems in addition and subtraction. We have also been learning about different types of graphs, when and why they are used and how to interpret what they are saying. We looked at dot plots, line graphs and pie charts. We practised find the mean, median and mode for a given set of data.

Author Visit 

We were so lucky to have Tristan Bancks visit us for a talk on Monday the 10th. The grade 5 cohort has been completing a book study on his book ‘Two Wolves’ that has allowed us to explore the themes and make creative responses to the story. It was really great to hear him talk about that book and his writing process, he had a lot of funny stories to share.
