The sweetness of 9-5

Term 3 continues apace and students have been busy in Performing Arts engaging in Dance, Drama and Music.

At MSC, preps have been working on a dance routine based on the Dolly Parton song Nine to Five. The students presented this at our Week 4 assembly. As well as being a lot of fun, it’s great to see how quickly our students can learn routines and work in unison. 

At ESC, we have added the Neil Diamond classic Sweet Caroline to our repertoire of songs. Grade 6 students performed this with aplomb at their Week 4 assembly. Once again, it’s great to hear students singing  and performing with confidence and enthusiasm after only a few sessions working on the song.

Lunchtime clubs at ESC have been continuing and we are really pleased with the progress students are making on instruments and with their singing. 

Ukulele Club kids are sounding great! We’re very excited to be preparing for our first performance - 

On Tuesday 8th September (Week 9) we will have an open classroom performance in the Performing Arts Room at ESC in Session 5.

Ukulele Club, the North Naarm House Band, and the ESC Choir will be joining forces to perform a few songs for family and friends.

The Performing Arts team want to give a special shout out to our amazing and talented Auslan Specialist Simone who has provided ongoing support with the ESC choir all year, helping Patrick run the lunchtime group. As well as this, Simone volunteers a lunch break every week to supervise and support the Grade 4 Student Band. The band is a student initiative - these kids wanted to start a band and needed a space to rehearse and a teacher to supervise and support, and Simone stepped in. Auslan applause for Simone!
