Principal's  Report

Dear Parents an Friends of DPS,

As we come to the end of a very successful first term, I would like to take a moment to celebrate the outstanding start our students and staff have made to the year.

Across the school, we have seen strong evidence of student learning in every classroom. This has been driven by our continued focus on high-quality teaching and learning, with clear expectations and consistent practices that support all students to succeed. Our classrooms are calm, orderly, and purposeful environments where students are engaged, challenged, and supported to do their very best.

Our students in Years 3 and 5 approached NAPLAN with maturity and confidence. We are proud of every student, showing perseverance and a positive attitude throughout the assessment period. We will learn of our results later in the year.

We have also seen a wonderful increase in student voice across the school, particularly through the leadership of our Level 6 student leaders. They continue to rise to the challenge, always have a 'can-do' attitude and are a pleasure to work with.

I would like to extend a sincere thank you to our Junior School Council for their collaboration and hard work in preparing for our end-of-term Easter Egg Raffle and Hat Parade. Their organisation and enthusiasm played a key role in the success of these events.

It was fantastic to see all students from Prep to Level 6 involved in the celebrations. The creativity and effort put into the Hat Parade were a joy to see.  We also greatly appreciate the many families who were able to attend and support these events. Your involvement helped make this a memorable and joyful way to finish the term. In the first week back, we wil be holding a special Assembly on Friday 24 April to commerate ANZAC Day. This service will start at 9:15am on the top basketball court.

Throughout Term 1, Niky, Julia and I have had the opportunity to connect with families from Prep and Level 1 over a tea or coffee. These meetings are an important part of building strong partnerships between home and school, and we thank our families for their ongoing support and engagement in their child’s learning.

I would like to thank our dedicated staff for their hard work and commitment, and our families for their continued support. Together, we are creating a strong foundation for a successful year ahead.

We wish all families and staff a safe and enjoyable break and look forward to another fantastic term of learning in Term 2.

Determination      Pride     Success
