Level Six

Interschool Sport
Students had a wonderful time at our Interschool Sports Gala Days! They competed enthusiastically in round robin matches across basketball, softball, tennis, rounders and cricket, demonstrating excellent teamwork, sportsmanship and resilience throughout the day. It was fantastic to see students encouraging one another and representing our school with pride. Congratulations to our softball team who were competitive across both days and went on to win the grand final! A special mention also goes to our Tennis A team that made it into the grand final and drew. We are looking forward to getting stuck into training for our winter sports next term and wish all teams the best of luck.
Camp Countdown
Students are eagerly counting down the days until we head off to Canberra! There is a real buzz of excitement as we prepare for what promises to be a memorable and educational experience. Our itinerary is jam-packed with engaging activities, including visits to Parliament House, the National Museum of Australia and Questacon. This camp will provide students with valuable opportunities to deepen their understanding of Australian history and government while also building independence and strengthening friendships.
Harmony Day
Students thoroughly enjoyed celebrating Harmony Day by sharing and showcasing their traditional cultural outfits. It was a wonderful opportunity to recognise and appreciate the diversity within our school community. Students spoke confidently about the origins and significance of their clothing, and it was pleasing to see such thoughtful questions and genuine curiosity from their peers. The day highlighted the importance of respect, inclusion and celebrating what makes each of us unique!
Theme
This term, students have been learning about government and democracy. As part of this unit, they have participated in a mock election where they worked in groups to design their own political parties. Students developed party names, policies and campaign strategies, and presented their ideas to their peers. This has been an engaging way to build understanding of how elections work and the role of government in Australia. We are excited to extend this learning further during our upcoming trip to Canberra.
Mathematics
In Mathematics, students have been developing their skills in analysing statistics and interpreting data. They have worked on reading graphs, drawing conclusions and justifying their thinking. We have also explored algebra and to finish off Term 1, students have been exploring area and perimeter, applying their knowledge to solve real-world problems and deepen their understanding of measurement concepts.
Writing
Students have been focusing on persuasive writing, learning how to structure their arguments clearly and effectively. They have been experimenting with a range of persuasive techniques, such as emotive language, strong arguments and supporting evidence, to convince their audience. It has been great to see students growing in confidence and creativity in their writing.
Reading
In Reading, students have been developing their comprehension skills by focusing on predicting and questioning in narrative texts. They have also been exploring bias in persuasive texts, learning how authors influence readers and present particular viewpoints. These skills are helping students become more critical and thoughtful readers.
