Level Three

Cultural Dress Up Day
Students enjoyed celebrating Harmony Day (at school on the 23rd March) with our cultural dress-up day. It was wonderful to see the variety of outfits that represented and celebrated the diverse cultures within our school community.
Reading
In Reader’s Workshop, students have been developing their comprehension skills by making predictions before, during, and after reading, and reflecting on how their thinking changes. We have continued to build our understanding of choosing “good fit” books that match students’ interests and reading abilities. During our class novel Mr Stink, students have been practising both visualising (our previous focus) and predicting, helping them to understand better and engage with the text.
Writing
In Writing, students have been exploring cinquain poetry, with a focus on structure and the use of rich Tier 2 vocabulary. Students who were interested also took part in our Level 3 cinquain poetry competition, first presenting to the class and then to the year level, with Rika announced as the winner. It has been wonderful to see the wide range of topics students have chosen for their poems, including Easter, Ramadan and Eid, Lunar New Year, and even World Meteorological Day.
Maths
In Maths, students have been focusing on addition and subtraction, developing their ability to solve problems using efficient mental and written strategies. They have been working with larger numbers, practising how to partition and regroup, and applying their understanding to a range of problem-solving tasks. Students are also building confidence in explaining their thinking and checking the reasonableness of their answers.
Well done to all students for a fantastic term. Everyone has worked incredibly hard and should be proud of their efforts. We hope all families enjoy a lovely and well-deserved break after such a big term!
