The end of 2025 has been as action-packed as the beginning! Our Year 7 and 8s finished 2025 together, sharing a BBQ, enjoying icy poles and playing a game of Pirate Treasure in the park.

I am so thankful to have had such a wonderful group of students to work with in Year 7 and Year 8 for my first year in the Head of Year 7 and 8 role. Thank you all for your continued dedication, kindness, fun, and good humour. I have genuinely enjoyed getting to know each one of you this year, sharing many great chats, supporting you, and occasionally helping with a few corrections along the way.

For our Year 7 students, this year has been one of new beginnings, exciting opportunities, and emerging friendships. The year started at full speed with camp and ended just as energetically.

For our Year 8 students, this has been a year of change, growing responsibility, and strengthening friendships. You are a fantastic group of young people, and I have loved watching you grow and mature as the year has progressed.

I am incredibly proud to hand our Year 8s over to Mr Brad Cotterell as they continue their St George’s journey in Years 9 and 10 next year.

There has been significant academic and social progress made by all students throughout their time in Years 7 and 8. Coming from more than 50 different primary schools initially, they have both grown into a very distinct and united cohort of St George’s students.

When academic reports are released, I encourage families to read through them together, celebrate the progress made in grades, learning affectives and pastoral care comments, and then set goals for the following year.

I also want to thank our families for their continued support. I look forward to next year and to supporting your child in their pastoral, academic, and wellbeing journey during their time in Year 7 and Year 8.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
