A year to remember

The school year is over and what an absolute blast it has been. We have celebrated our 10 Years in the CBD in style, we have successfully opened our beautiful new campus at 441 Murray Street, we have Cowan House ready to enter our House Cup Competition from the start of 2026, we have adjusted to having two Chapel Services and Presentation Nights and Afternoons, we have committed to leading our camp programs with Growth Hunting and we have experienced the delights and scrumptiousness of Food Technologies as a subject. What a year it has been! It has been nothing short of miraculous.

The Ascalon was issued with much excitement to staff and students on Wednesday morning as part of the whole school celebrations for the last day of the school year. Our Year 12s can collect their copy from student reception at 50 William Street whenever they are in the city over the summer holiday period – the books are ready and waiting for you, so please pop in, say hello and grab a copy. It is a most wondrous edition, full of birthday celebrations, lots of significant events, plenty of smiles, masses of colour and plenty of brilliant captures of energy and positive school spirit in abundance.

The release of the doves as part of the formal opening of 441 Murray Street makes a beautiful cover page and starts the issue with so much warmth and passion. A heartfelt thank you to Mrs Lisa Quartermain, our Marketing and Community Engagement Manager, who each year works tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that our year book is planned and published before the end of the school year for everyone to enjoy on an extremely tight schedule. I am confident that it will be a much-loved edition in every St George’s home – enjoy reflecting through its pages of the many wonders and brilliance of the 2025 school year.

Best of luck

ATAR results are due to come out around 19 December. TISC sometimes releases them early, so we will wait to hear the news from our students. We wish all our Year 12s eagerly awaiting these results the very best of luck and remind them that whatever their results their scores in no way define them. They worked hard, gave of their best throughout the year and we now hope that their final ATAR results recognise and celebrate their efforts. Results are not issued to schools until after they have been released to students and families, so to the Class of 2025, we’d really love to celebrate these with you when you access them – please message us. Mr Bochrinis, Mrs Tagore and myself will all be at 441 Murray Street on Monday 22 December from 9am until midday, to celebrate where your results might take you and to offer future focused guidance and advice to any of our Year 12s where it may be required. Hopefully some of you will pop by to share what we hope will be extremely good news for you. Fingers crossed!

Thank You to those families able to join us at our end-of-term special events this week. It was lovely to celebrate an array of student achievement in such a positive way and in the beautiful setting of St George’s Cathedral. We certainly farewelled the 2025 academic school year with much fun and frivolity.

As holidays are now upon us, I wish you all a safe, happy and holy Christmas. May Christmas bring rest, joy and renewal to your home – enjoy the summer break with different routines and structures, until 2026!

With God’s Blessings to you all.
