It is with some degree of sadness that I write the final Dragon article for this year as I won’t be writing them in 2026. I will be departing St George’s for one year to take up a 12-month secondment to ACC working as a Director of Sports Operations. This means that I will see some of you at all the ACC Carnivals, where I start my year running ten ACC Swimming Carnivals, J to A-Division, at the High Performance Stadium. I am excited as I am going to learn a lot and will be able to see how the engine room runs for the 80 schools in the Association and what I learn I can bring back to St George’s in 2027. I will be back!
I have had the privilege of being a Foundation Staff member since 2015, where we had only nine Year 7s, and seeing St George’s grow to the vibrant school it is today has brought me much joy. This school is unique and dynamic but the one thing that hasn’t changed is the fact that every individual in this school is known and valued. You are part of an amazing community where everyone adopts the St George’s way of genuinely knowing each other and if you don’t, people will ask you what your name is and make sure you feel part of something special. It is a diverse community that accepts everyone for who they are and that is the essence of inclusivity. I will certainly miss the people in these two buildings, but I will be back and I will look forward to seeing St George’s out at ACC events. Go St George’s!
The PE Department has been left in the very calm and capable hands of Miss Amy Perejmibida who will be Acting Head of Health and PE in 2026, with the dynamic pocket rocket Miss Molly Raynor stepping into the Acting Head of Gandhi House whilst Amy runs the Department. I would also like to welcome Mr Benjamin Busby who will join our department in my absence.
I wish everyone a blessed and joyous Christmas and a sporty, fit and healthy new year in 2026! Thanks for all the PE fun over the years and never stop stepping up and “having a go”!
Ms Jodie Scheele
