From Miss Yoxall
Our Year 9 cohort headed to Forest Edge in Waroona in Week 7 for a camp filled with challenge, connection, and plenty of laughs — despite the swarm of flies that greeted us!
Set against stunning views stretching to Mandurah, students embraced activities such as the Big Fox, abseiling, kayaking, bushwalking, and team building. This year also marked our first partnership with Growth Hunting, who led reflective sessions encouraging deeper connections and personal growth. Students explored their strengths, honoured one another, and developed shared values to guide them throughout camp.
As a group, they chose humour, kindness, respect, and positivity, and truly embodied them. Whether lifting each other up through tough challenges, washing dishes for the first time, or staying upbeat through rain and flies, their positivity and care were unwavering. Respect shone through in countless ways: listening attentively, encouraging peers, and supporting one another in each and every activity.
Evenings brought fun and unexpected activities, from cookie challenges and maze crossings to storytelling, journaling, and group reflections. The sense of unity and courage displayed was inspiring. More than anything, the generosity of this cohort stood out—students constantly offered help, supported staff and peers, and contributed wherever needed. Laughter from dorms, shared stories, and blossoming friendships created a warm, uplifting atmosphere. (I also learned that only Ms de Witt and I know all the lyrics to What About Me by Shannon Noll—something the rest of the cohort is welcome to learn!)
I am so proud of this incredible group for stepping outside their comfort zones with compassion, humour, and determination. They cared for one another and grew as individuals and as a community.

A heartfelt thank you to Bel, Brodie, and Ray from Growth Hunting for facilitating such a meaningful experience, and to our brilliant staff - Mrs McGaw, Mrs de Witt, Miss Raynor, Mr Maddess, Mr Heath, Mr Cumpsty, and Mr Cotterell - for making this camp possible. Your dedication and care keep our students inspired and supported.
Well done, Year 9, you should be incredibly proud of yourselves!
To kick off their Transition to Year 12, our Year 11 cohort spent Day One at Swan Valley Adventure Centre for a one-day camp designed to reconnect, challenge, and prepare them for leadership in their final year. The location held special significance as it was the site of their first St George’s Camp in Year 7, making this visit a meaningful bookend to their journey.
Students embraced adventurous, team-focused activities throughout the day. They tackled the high ropes course and the exhilarating Leap of Faith, showing courage and determination. Kayaking offered a calmer moment of teamwork, while the commando course pushed them to problem-solve and support one another through mud, obstacles, and plenty of laughter. Hopefully it might just have prepared them for the demands of Year 12.
Beyond the physical challenges, each activity was chosen to strengthen connections and develop leadership qualities. It was an opportunity for students to step up, encourage peers, and reflect on the legacy they want to leave as senior students.
Of course, there was time for fun - spontaneous dance parties broke out during breaks, and the day ended with well-deserved icy poles in the Swan Valley sunshine.
This camp was a memorable start to the Transition to Year 12 program, setting the tone for an exciting year ahead. We cannot wait to see this cohort thrive in 2026!
