A Sweeper Story

Hey Mum, I'm on the wireless!

Throughout this term, Year 9 Music students have been busy working on sweepers, for the popular radio show The Breaky Wrap with Brendan on Kool FM, North Queensland.  Sweepers is radio lingo for a promotional advertisement for a show or program.  Brendan hosts the morning drive show on Kool FM in North Queensland and on hearing our students' work, agreed to play a few on air. “I was really impressed by the quality of their work,” said Brendan. “It was a no-brainer that I would play their sweepers on air”!  The photo above shows Year 9 students, Alex Mastroianni & Crystal Villacis working on their Sweepers!

As a teacher, it was incredibly rewarding to watch the students' pride as their hard work came over the airwaves during class on a Monday morning.
