Learning together

Year 7 2021 Orientation Day

On Tuesday 1 December, more than 200 students, soon to be Year 7 of 2021, spent Orientation Day engaging in different activities to get to know themselves, each other and Cecil Hills High School a little better.

Students worked their way through an amazing race around the school, building a terrarium, writing a letter to their future self (which will be returned to them at the end of Year 12, along with the photo taken on the day) joining their own new Google Classroom and completing a survey to help staff get to know them. Thank you to the many staff and students who were involved in making the day a great success.

As they were leaving in the afternoon, it was wonderful to hear many students making comments like ‘I can’t wait to start high school next year’ and ‘I’d like to come back tomorrow’.

2021 Attendance Goals

The holidays are a great time to set attendance goals for 2021. The aim is to attend more than 90% of the time. None of us would like to see a doctor who went to university only 90% of the time or to have an electrician, who only attended TAFE 90% of the time, install a power point in our house.  We want experts who attended 100% of the time!  Put your attendance goals on your New Year’s Resolutions list so you can be an expert student!
