A huge thank you to Olga Gromof representing the Educational Pathways Program for organising and delivering a fantastic experience to our upcoming Year 7 students.

Students were introduced to careers in horticulture and enjoyed creating a terrarium - a fantastic moment and keepsake of their introduction to what life will be like at Cecil Hills High School. The Careers team is looking forward to working with all of you on your career journey over the next six years.

Future Finder

Students in Year 10S English participated in an online Future Finder workshop.  The program looked at the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's). These are a shared global framework to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all.

Some topics addressed were - the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice.

Our students were engaged and provided with the opportunity to develop 21st Century employability skills.

Productivity Boot Camp

Congratulations to our first graduates, Alex McGurk and Jeremy Buttigieg  of Year 10 who completed the Productivity Boot Camp eight week program, arming them with the skills and work ethic required to be productive employees.

Their training was based on practical construction skills, including form work, steel fixing, concreting, roof tiling, carpentry, bricklaying, fencing and general groundwork.

In addition, both boys learnt other important skills vital to gaining employment in any industry, such as workplace safety, injury prevention, work ethic, team work, problem-solving, resilience, confidence, time-keeping, communication skills, dealing with different personalities and punctuality.  Developing these skills has put Alex and Jeremy in the box seat with employers and they have both secured full time apprenticeships in carpentry.

We wish the boys all the best as they start their next adventure in the working world.

Macquarie University Leaders and Achievers Early Entry Scheme

Congratulations to the ten students from the Cecil Hills High School Graduating Class of 2020 who were successful in receiving an early offer to Macquarie University through the Leaders and Achievers Scheme.

The Macquarie Leaders and Achievers Scheme looks for students who are performing well at school and have demonstrated initiative and commitment through leadership, community, sport, or casual work activities.

Interested in a school-based apprenticeship?

Barely a week after Monika Mladenovic completed her final HSC exam she walked through the front door of Teddy’s Little Treasures, an early childhood centre in Green Valley near Liverpool, and into her first full-time job. It’s an amazing achievement by any measure, and one that seems all the more impressive when you consider the chaos that COVID-19 unleashed on the childcare and training sectors earlier in the year.

Are you interested in a school-based apprenticeship?  Please feel free to contact me at school.
