Fringe Performers Hamish Walsh and Kyle Baker

Fringe Performers Hamish Walsh and Kyle Baker

I recently discovered the hidden talents of two of our new students who have commenced at Blackfriars this year. It has been impossible to not notice the backflips on the oval at lunch time that attract an amazed crowd. Both Kyle Baker (Year 10) and Hamish Walsh (Year 7) are students of Circobats- performers skilled in acrobatics, juggling, balance, flips, magic and all things circus. On Thursday 21st February, Mr Gray and I attended their Fringe Act "Music Box Circus".

The troupe consisted of 22 young performers aged between seven and eighteen, each performing amazing feats that are mind boggling and are guaranteed to have the audience gob-smacked at the talents these students possess. From hula hooping multiple hoops, juggling in unison, body contortion acts, unicycles, trapeze performances and the silk sash acrobatics- we were entertained for the entire duration. Kyle has amazing skills in juggling, flipping and walking on a ball. Hamish's ability in mime performance was outstanding and he is also very agile in the backflips and skipping tricks.

The performance took us on a childhood journey of toys and activities from the past and each act brought the toy to life in a clever connection in animated movement. It truly was amazing to see these boys shine in a field that very few of us can boast we can do. It was a mind-blowing performance and we are so glad to be able to celebrate these boys' skills and talents.
