Catholic Schools Swimming Carnival

Catholic Schools Swimming Carnival

On Thursday 14 March, the Primary Swim team consisting of 20 boys ventured to the Magill Pool for Section A of the Catholic Schools Swimming Carnival. The format for this year’s carnival changed in that students competed against students within their year level at school, not in age divisions.

The racing was of high quality and Clare quickly became the school to beat with some very strong swims early in the piece. Almost all Blackfriars boys returned with place ribbons and all tried their best. It was a terrific contest and the boys performed admirably.

Blackfriars had a big support crew and many parents were in attendance to watch their sons. It was a really nice atmosphere!

Blackfriars finished in 2nd position out of 8 teams which was a very good effort. Clare won the day by just 15 points.

Our relay teams performed exceptionally well.

  • 4x25m Medley relay – 2nd
  • Year 4 4x25m relay – 1st
  • Year 5 4x25, relay – 2nd
  • Year 6 4x50m relay – 2nd
  • Year 7 4x50m relay – 1st

Jacob Short was announced as the Age Champion Swimmer in the Year 4 division whilst Hugh Caton took out the same award at Year 6. The Year 7 team took out the pennant as the winning team in the Year 7 division.

Well done to all competitors and many thanks to the senior student helpers and parent supporters that came along.
