Japanese Visitors

Over the past two weeks, we have enjoyed hosting a group of 22 boys from Sundai Kofu Junior High School in Japan. The boys are in Australia as part of a larger contingent of students, girls and boys, with A&C Culture.

Over the three days that the boys have been with us, they have participated in a range of activities and classes in both the Primary and Secondary Schools.  It was great to see our Primary students, in particular, able to put their Japanese language skills to the test with their guests!

As part of the Secondary Athletics Carnival on Thursday, the boys competed in their own 100m event, joined the U15 1500m race and took on both the Year 7/8 and Year 11/12 boys in tug-o-war.

This visit is the first of two involving students from Japan in 2019. The second will take place in Term 3 where we will host a group for three weeks as part of our regular exchange with Nagoya Otani High School which sees our boys head to Japan in every alternate year. You will have read in recent newsletters about this visit and the opportunity to host a Japanese student. If you haven’t already done so, please give some consideration to this opportunity and contact Ms Chikako Oguma at school to register your interest.

Special thanks to all those students who have worked closely with our Japanese guests this fortnight and to those staff involved in hosting them, especially Ms Oguma and Ms Angela Honner.
