From the Primary School

Congratulations to Spence House on taking out this year’s Primary Swimming Carnival!

From the Primary School

There have been a few important events conducted or celebrated recently including our Harmony Day activities (Wednesday 20 March). The boys were shown a video made by our Year 12s featuring many of our boys (Primary and Secondary). We saw how diverse our student population is and the importance of tolerance and harmony – very pertinent in today’s crazy world. Then the secondary boys and our own boys joined together for activities and fun.

Our Primary Swimming Carnival held recently was one of the most enjoyable events I have attended for many years. Firstly, families supported it so well; there was a huge crowd in attendance so thank you for supporting your boys. Secondly, the organisation was smooth and ensured maximum participation and with the help of the Year 11 boys, parent helpers and staff it ran like a precision clock. Well done to all especially Mr Nick Cheary. Thirdly, the boys competed fiercely but with a sense of fun and sportsmanship and their overall behaviour was absolutely outstanding. Great work boys! Spence won for the fourth year in a row.

We are very excited to introduce to you our newest staff member, Mrs Nadia Morris, who will work with us on Mondays as a STEM specialist. She is highly skilled in this field and will provide staff with plenty of tools to enrich the boys’ experiences in this area. Her father is an old scholar and her cousins, the Matto family, all attended here too.

Hopefully everyone received their SEQTA message re Sports Day. We will have a coffee van available from 8:30am so you will not have to wait around until start time without caffeine! Cakes, fruit and drinks will also be available as will a sausage sizzle for both children and families. Please note that even though it is a Friday in Lent meat is allowed to be eaten but some may wish to abstain and the Tuckshop will be open for options. Hope to see you all there with a slightly different Sports Day format.
