Learning and Support

Learning Support

Year 10 exams will be held in Week 8, with Year 11 Preliminary Exams scheduled for Weeks 9 and 10 of this term. Exam periods can be stressful for both students and their families. To support exam preparation and revision, a variety of study tips, scaffolds and resources are available in the Library’s Learning Hub.

The Teacher Assisted Study Centre (TASC) operates on Thursdays in the library from 2pm-3pm. It provides students with a quiet place to work on assessment tasks, class activities and exam preparation. Students are welcome to attend TASC to study independently or in small study groups.

Check-in Assessments

Students in Years 7-9 recently completed two online assessments in Reading and Numeracy. The results help teachers monitor progress, identify learning gaps, and tailor their teaching strategies to meet student needs.

NCCD

Every August, all schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). The NCCD process requires schools to identify information already available in the school about supports provided to students with disability. These relate to legislative requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, in line with the NCCD guidelines (2019).

Information provided about students for the NCCD includes:

  • year of schooling
  • category of disability: physical, cognitive, sensory or social/emotional
  • level of adjustment provided.
  •

This information assists schools to:

  • formally recognise the supports and adjustments provided to students with disability in schools
  • consider how they can strengthen the support of students with disability in schools
  • develop shared practices so that they can review their learning programs in order to improve educational outcomes for students with disability.

The NCCD will have no direct impact on your child and your child will not be involved in any testing process.

For further information about the NCCD, please refer to at the attached fact sheet or visit the NCCD Portal: https://www.nccd.edu.au/
