Book Week 2026
This year the theme was Symphony of Stories and we leaned into the music vibe.
All week piano students provided live music over lunchtime, there was a musical note display to promote your favourite book, and a competition to make the best band name by merging two or more book titles.
Thursday saw the now traditional Find the Mystery Readers activity – 16 staff from a variety of faculties volunteered to read in the school grounds and students had to find them. Over the course of one lunchtime we received 468 entries!
The week wrapped up on Friday with an invitee only party in the Library at lunch. Invitations were extended to all students who had a connection to the Library over the year, including Book Club members, Library Leaders, Shadow Judges, Top Readers, and students who provided live piano music across the week. It was a fun end to a great Book Week!
Jigsaws in the Library
During Book Week we included a jigsaw to the passive activities on offer (other activities were bookmark making and decorating, and colouring). It was a surprising hit and over the week we had 4 completed! They will now be part of our regular quiet group activities available during lunchtime. Jigsaws are a wonderful way to strengthen spatial and logic skills, practice problem solving, and provide a low-stakes activity to connect with others. Why not dust off one at home and give it a go!
Community Book Club
Missed our first Book Club?
Our new Community Book Club will meet twice per term. Please join us for the next one in Week 2 of Term 4, where will we discus our first book: Flames by Robbie Arnott.

Q: What is involved in Book Club?
A: Each meeting we will choose a book to read by the next meeting where we will discuss the book with a small guest panel.
Q: What is the purpose of this initiative?
A: As well as being a great way to meet other people, the Community Book Club will introduce books that are on the school syllabus to families.
Q: How can I get the book?
A: You aren't required to buy the book each time. Books in hardcopy, digital or audio formats can be borrowed through local libraries (free).
Students are welcome to join us and activities will be available for younger children, if required. Light refreshments will be served.
