Flavours from around the world 

This term in the kitchen the Year 5’s have been celebrating flavours from around the world. Learning about a variety of herbs, spices and interesting vegetables from our garden. It has been a great opportunity to talk about and celebrate different cultures and cuisines. 

 

On the menu so far we have prepared and shared…

 

Risotto of the Imagination with Seasonal Garden Salad

 

Vegetable Samosa with Tomato and Chilli Jam

 

Berbere Lentils with Injera 

 

Vegetable Gyoza with Brown Rice Salad

 

Burrito Bowls with Chilli Non Carne and Mexican Green Rice 

 

Vegetarian Sushi and Apple and Cinnamon Turon

 

It has been a fun tasting familiar and unfamiliar flavours and hearing from students about how some of these dishes are made at home and enjoyed by families. We’ve had some great demonstrations from students who are expert Gyoza folders, Samosa fillers, and Sushi Rollers.
