Our Super Character Strengths
In Grade 3 we have been identifying our strengths. We created shields that had our strengths on them. Some of the strengths included bravery, creativity, teamwork, kindness and humour. We know that everyone has different strengths and that we can use them to be better friends and classmates.
Here are some ways that students demonstrate their character strengths to help themselves and others:
Emily 3B
I saw someone left out and asked for them to come and join the game
Adam 3B
One time people where fighting about the rules and I created a new rule and everyone agreed to it
Isabella 3B
I invited a new student to come over and play a maths game
Avita 3C
My friend was sad so I made her laugh to cheer her up!
Jai 3C
With my sister, when she is crying, I do different funny things every time & she gets cheered up.
Mackenzie 3C
Once one of my friends where getting bullied by someone and I was brave and standed up for my friend
In Wellbeing we have also been learning about how to play fairly. Here are some ideas we came up with to make sure that we are playing by the school values.
How to be a good friend to play with
- Play fairly: Invite people to play with you, teach everyone how to play, everyone gets to have a turn.
- Play by the rules: Everyone should agree to the rules and stick to them. Rules must be applied to all players.
- Have fun! We can't forget the most important part of any game which is to have fun. This means you're smiling, laughing, and want to play again.
Persuasive Writing
This week we have been using the TREE planner to help us write convincing persuasive pieces. TREE stands for Topic Sentence, Reason, Explanation and Ending. We learn that in order to convince someone you should have three strong reasons. Here are some of the things we are ready to persuade you about...
- NMPS should have a gymnastics club at school
- We should have a subject called the Human Body at school
- More kids should play footy
- More people should volunteer to pick up rubbish to protect the environment
- Kids should be paid to be at school
We can't wait to publish our pieces and add them to our writer's gifts.
