Biz -E -Kidz Update

Now we’ll go straight to the source to see what’s been happening since last newsletter at after school care. Below are entries from our ‘Captain’s Log’, in which Educators write observations at the end of each after school care session. 

What’s been happening at Preps After School Care?

Hami, Amber and Violet made a really cute house out of the lego outside and played family in it, with a functional door for the imaginary pet cat. 

Andrew brought a magic trick book from home and showed us his tricks and learnt how it’s normal to make mistakes too. Kaia and Lilly made a cafe with a menu that engaged lots of other children.‘Olympic Games’ bringing out lots of energy and skills, as well as limbo, octopus, what’s the time Mr Wolf, basketball and soccer.

Chenyi helped everyone to understand the rules for Octopus and then when playing ‘fairy snap’ (card game with fairy cards), he made sure everyone was playing fairly and knew the rules when they joined in. 

Chenyi learned how to draw a 3D cube and was then teaching others how to and experimenting with different shapes. 

Lots of kids had a go at painting water-colour fish and sea creatures. Amber and Reiya painted beautiful rainbows. 

Preps have been showing their pride in their commitment to pack up time - it was noted in the Captain’s Log that Amber and Yuna combined forces to ‘make a teamwork’ in pack-up time and did an amazing job, and on another day Violet was very proud of her hard work at pack up time. 

What’s been happening at Juniors After School Care? 

Lots of interest in imagination games. Pretending to be animals living in the forest or fishing in the ocean.Dulithma suggested we play broken telephone and it was a hit with a few kids. We had a good group playing together and coming up with silly sentences. Broken Telephone and Categories were good ice breaker games for children who were looking for friends to play with.

Gabe and Yaqoob enjoyed building their fort and strategizing to make the best structure.

Eden found a ladybug, Mattias found a centipede, lots of interest in bugs today. Yves and Chelsea asked me to read them the gross bugs book. 

Edward is really into periodic table of the elements, played a fun guess the element game together.

What’s been happening at Seniors After School Care? 

Jetson and friends explored their interest in computers by taking apart a broken keyboard. They found a silicone-like material that looked a lot like a ‘poppit’ sensory toy underneath the buttons and a mini electrical circuit under each key. 

Antonella and friends have been working on a bookmark shop in the lead up to Book Week. 

Lego beyblades have returned: an arena and unique, customisable beyblades made from Lego have started cropping up at Seniors.Fred and Brandon made themselves a new pair of custom shoes with the pasta boxes and a lot of tape. Melbourne Fashion Week, look out.

Rainy day today: Dodgeball was epic, so high energy, Eric shot the hoop that won for his team right at the last minute! 

Outside, senior Biz-E-Kidz have been enjoying soccer (every day), cricket, dance, basketball, hand tennis / four square, chalking and frisbee. 

Like Book Week, Biz-E-Kidz is all about the imagination. That’s really the essence of childhood, isn’t it?Never stop dreaming, parents!
