This fortnight in Auslan, students have been learning the signs for charger, dishwasher, lamp, hair dryer, kettle, fan, clothes dryer, phone, mobile, camera, iPad, blender, oven and rice cooker.
Last year, Simone wrote multiple songs for the Molesworth junior students and found it was an exceptional acceleration tool for learning Auslan vocabulary. The year 3-6’s have been learning The Appliances Song, a cheeky retelling of a silly story about how they broke all of the appliances in their house by putting them in the dishwasher. Students have enjoyed the playfulness of the song whilst signing over 20 different signs within a minute. It's been very impressive to see the Errol Street students take on this signing challenge, as their grammar, fine motor agility, and focus is tested.
