Level One

It has been another wonderful term of learning in Level One. The students have started developing their persuasive writing skills, explored addition and subtraction with money, learnt the language of location and discussed special places they have connections with.

Literacy

This term in Literacy, we have been learning how to write persuasive pieces of writing. From exploring what the best animal in the world is to discussing whether we should have longer playtime, we have enjoyed sharing our opinions and putting our ideas onto paper. We have also been learning how to use persuasive language and strong reasons to help make our points clear and convincing.

Mathematics

This term in Mathematics, our Level One students have been developing their understanding of money by recognising, adding, and subtracting amounts using Australian notes and coins. Through hands-on learning experiences, they have built confidence in solving real-life money problems. Students have also been exploring location by learning to describe the position of objects using directional language, as well as giving and following simple directions to navigate familiar spaces.

Theme

In Theme, we have been learning about places in our community and why they are important to us. We explored places such as Manningham City Square, Ruffey Lake Park, our school and our homes, and discussed how these places help connect our community. Students enjoyed creating maps of their local area, including these important places as well as other locations that are special and meaningful to them.
