Biz -E -Kidz Update

Launching Camping Club at Biz-E-Kidz!
Welcome back everyone! We had a beautiful Holiday Program at Biz-E-Kidz and have loved hearing about what the kids got up to who weren’t here with us.
A highlight from our Holiday Program was our shelter building tournament, facilitated by Educators Alice and Jules, challenged children to build storm-proof shelters from a tarp, some lengths of rope, and some tent pegs. The group behind the most sturdy shelter from each session then went head to head in a grand final round with a tricky twist: the tarps used in this round were MASSIVE! 4x6m. The storm conditions include simulated wind and simulated (but truly wet) rain. Bonus points for decoration and inventiveness.
Due to the success of the shelter building activity, we have decided to continue the exploration of camping skills through a weekly ‘camping club’ at Seniors. Camping club will be on Fridays, starting this week!
On our excursions to the Royal Park ‘Nature Play’ adventure playground, children tested their courage on the high ropes course and loved swinging high as a group on the big nest swing. Inner-city kids have few chances to engage in risky play and as a childcare service, it can be hard to facilitate it in a way that all families are comfortable with. So, we are very lucky to have such an amazing resource as our adventure playground within easy walking distance.
An unusual addition to our program has been a keyboard! Children have been building on their skill as they practice each day and learn from each other. We are providing visual resources to show children how to identify the keys and play the notes as shown.
Looking ahead, it’s time to get organising our costumes for Book Week! We can help children work on aspects of their costumes at Biz-E-Kidz, but also we need help to decide what we Educators should dress up as! Taking suggestions now!
