From Erin Reynolds, SAKG teacher
Welcome to the Kitchen Year 3.
This term we welcomed the Year 3’s into the NMPS kitchen for the very first time. First they were introduced to the kitchen and their new cooking groups Saltbush, Nasturtium, Parsley and Warrigal Greens. We smelt fragrant herbs from the garden and it was time to get started on our recipe. Here’s what some of them had to say about their first cooking class.
Our Day in the Kitchen - by Ingrid, Amen, Aaron, Subaita, Miya
This week our class made a yummy pastry which is called a “Cheese and Herb Twist”. They were made of pastry, parsley, cheese, olive oil, tulbaghia and rosemary.
A new word we learned was tulbaghia, which smells a bit like onion or garlic.
The herb and cheese twists were very delicious. Some of the highlights was making it with my lovely team and also eating it!
My most favourite part in cooking was washing and drying the plates, cups, bowls and measuring cups.
The highlights of the first lesson was all the cooking parts and of course eating the delicious food made me and all my lovely classmates.
Yum! Yum! Yum!
