PDHPE

Welcome to 2026! We’re ready to kick off another successful year in the PDHPE faculty.
Students are reminded to wear and/or pack appropriate clothing for practical PDHPE lessons. Participation in practical lessons is compulsory and contributes to students’ overall grades. Each year group is required to have a workbook for all theory lessons, and students should come to each class Ready to Learn with the appropriate resources.
Please ensure students are paying attention during Roll Call so they don’t miss important sporting notices and opportunities. Thank you for your continued support in helping students come prepared and ready to get the most out of their learning this year.

Year 7
Year 7 classes are timetabled for two theory lessons and two practical activity lessons each fortnight. Throughout the year, they will explore a range of topics including Creative Dance, understanding a balanced lifestyle, Athletics, The Best Version of Me, Positive Relationships, Court Sports, Striking and Fielding Sports, and Water Safety. So far this term, students have begun completing their Creative Dance assessment tasks during practical lessons. In the classroom, they are investigating a range of strategies to support them in developing lifelong physical activity habits and healthy lifestyles.
Year 8
Year 8 students have started their second year with high enthusiasm, particularly during practical lessons. Throughout the year, they will explore topics such as Risk Taking, Athletics, Cybersafety, Food Choices, Invasion Games, and Striking and Fielding Sports.
Through a combination of practical experiences and classroom learning, students will develop strategies to support positive decision-making, strengthen teamwork and communication skills, and continue building lifelong physical activity and healthy lifestyle habits.
Year 9
The Year 9 cohort started 2026 off with the Just Dance unit and will shortly progress into Athletics, in preparation for the athletics carnival in early Term 2. Inside the classroom, they will explore healthy eating habits and lifelong physical activity to improve overall health.
Year 9 PASS has been taking part in fitness testing during practical lessons. They are completing various tests and will compare their results to the average teenager for their assessment task due at the end of the Term. During theory lessons students are investigating Australian Sporting Identity, discovering major moments in sporting history and how they have shaped sport in Australia.
Year 10
Year 10 PDHPE classes are undertaking mini tournaments within and between classes for the first half of the Term before they transition into Athletics and Cross Country carnival preparation.
Year 10 PASS are working through the human body systems, learning to identify the body’s muscles, bones and additional systems required for the body to function. Students will then be able to identify how sport and training can influence these systems.
Human Movement Science – Stage 6
On Thursday night in week 4, Year 12 HMS attended a Macarthur Bulls Asian Champions league game at Campbelltown stadium. It was a great turn out with 25 students attending and looking into elite performance. Students were provided questions to deepen their knowledge around sports specific performance. This will hopefully be one of many opportunities for students to extend understanding outside of the classroom in 2026!
Thank you to the Macarthur Bulls for providing such an enriching experience!
Sports, Lifestyle and Recreation – Stage 6
Year 11 SLR students have been undertaking fitness testing during practical lessons, during which they are looking to improve their individual components of fitness, in areas such as Speed, Agility and Cardio-Vascular Endurance. These are then compared with norms from students their own age from around Australia and reported on for their Assessment Task.
Year 12 SLR students are busily preparing for their Athletics Assessment Task Presentations, where they will deliver an Athletic Event to their peers. SLR students have been learning safety precautions and how to organise an efficient event in disciplines such as Javelin, Shot Put and Discus.
