Principal's Message

A Prayer for Reconciliation
God of all peoples, Help us walk together in the spirit of reconciliation. May we listen deeply, act justly and stand in solidarity now more than ever.
Amen.
Dear Parents and Families,
This week marks an exciting milestone for our school community with the installation of our new Senior Playground. This wonderful addition will provide our students with increased opportunities for play, physical activity, social interaction, and enjoyment for many years to come.
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to our entire school community for helping make this project a reality. Through the generous support of our families, Parents & Friends Committee, fundraising initiatives, and community events, we have been able to create a valuable space that will benefit both current and future students.
This achievement is a reflection of what can be accomplished when a community works together towards a shared goal. We are incredibly grateful for the ongoing support, dedication, and generosity shown by so many people throughout this journey.
We look forward to officially opening the playground and seeing our students enjoy this exciting new space. Thank you for your continued commitment to making St Fidelis such a vibrant and supportive community.
Please note that the works between the SLA and the Junior Building have taken slightly longer than anticipated. As a result, there will continue to be no vehicle access through Hawthorn Street at pick-up time.
Additionally, further works will be taking place tomorrow from 9:30 am, and access through this area will remain restricted while the works are completed.
We kindly ask families to use the Saunders Street or Church car park for student pick-up.
Additional staff will be available to support students during dismissal and assist with safe collection arrangements.
Thank you for your understanding.
Closure of Parish Chapels
In the Sunday Parish Bulletin, Fr Brendan informed the community that the Parish Safeguarding Committee had raised security concerns regarding the after hours chapels at St Fidelis and at Our Lady Help of Christians Church, which have remained closed since 2019.
The newly established parish will maintain one after hours chapel at St Joseph's Church, where weekly advertised devotions will continue to be offered.
At St Fidelis, the chapel will be refurbished to support the school's music program and children's liturgical formation, including the development of a parish children's choir. The chapel at Our Lady Help of Christians will be repurposed as plans progress for a dedicated Youth Hub, creating new opportunities for youth engagement and faith formation within the parish community.
You may have also noticed works commencing in our hall linking the chapel to our hall from the inside. These improvements will provide a secure internal connection between the chapel and hall and are expected to be completed in the coming weeks. We thank our community for your understanding during this period of transition and renewal.

Help Us Preserve Our 1927 School Heritage
Do You Have Restoration Skills or Contacts?
Help Bring Our Original 1927 Doors Back to Life ?
Can You Help Restore a Piece of Our School’s History?
During our 2021 school refurbishment, we were fortunate to recover several of the original classroom doors from 1927, a special part of our school’s rich history and heritage. (see photo below)
As next year marks our Centenary Year, a group of parents and teachers have already begun planning celebrations and commemorative activities. One of these special projects is the restoration and display of these original doors in our school foyer as a tribute to the many generations of children and families who have been part of our community.
We currently have six of these original doors that require paint stripping, restoration, and cleaning so they can be proudly preserved and displayed for future generations to enjoy.
We are seeking support from within our community and would love to hear from anyone with experience, skills, or connections in restoration work who may be interested in helping coordinate or take on this special project.
As part of the restoration, families will also have the opportunity to purchase a small engraved plaque to be placed alongside the restored doors. This will provide a meaningful way for families to leave a lasting connection to our school and become part of its ongoing story and history. (See example)
Funds raised through this initiative will support the restoration and preservation of these historical pieces for future generations to enjoy.
If you are able to assist or would like to express interest in supporting the project, please contact Manuela - principal@sfmoreland.catholic.edu.au.
We look forward to celebrating and preserving this important part of our school’s story together.
Kind regards and many thanks to this wonderful community, Manuela
Hope you all have a lovely week
Manuela
