Education in Faith

Designed and created by the Year 1 children
Lord as we celebrate Reconciliation Week, help us to walk together with respect, understanding, and compassion. May we learn from the rich cultures, histories, and wisdom of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, and work towards a future of unity and peace.
Help us to forgive others, just as You forgive us. Teach us to say sorry when we make mistakes and to accept forgiveness with a grateful heart. May we follow the example of Jesus by showing compassion, respect, and love to everyone we meet. Like the Good Samaritan, help us to care for others, especially those who may be different from us.
Amen
Sacrament of Eucharist Celebration
On Saturday 13th June at 6.00pm, our school community will gather to celebrate the Sacrament of Eucharist. This is a significant and joyful occasion in the faith journey of our Year 4 students as they receive the Eucharist for the very first time. As a school community, we keep all of the children and their families in our prayers as they continue their preparation and celebrate this important sacrament.
Choir
As part of our liturgical music program at St Fidelis, we are excited to announce the formation of our school choir. We have a number of students who have shown great enthusiasm and interest in being part of this special group.
Over the past few weeks, the children have been learning and practising hymns that will be sung during our Eucharist celebration. Their commitment and enthusiasm have been wonderful to see as they prepare to support this important occasion through music and song.
The choir will be singing at the 6.00pm Mass on Saturday 13th June, where our parish community will gather to celebrate the Sacrament of Eucharist. We look forward to the children sharing their gifts and helping make this celebration a meaningful and joyful occasion for all.
Eucharist Reflection Day
All Year 4 students are invited to participate in a special Reflection at St Fidelis on Friday 12th June. The reflection day will be led by Father John Vespa from Catholic Vocations. Catholic Vocations is a ministry of the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne committed to nurturing a culture where every young person is empowered to hear and respond to God’s personal call.
The students will have the opportunity to step away from their usual daily routine and reflect more deeply on their faith journey. Throughout the day, students will engage in a range of meaningful activities including prayer, reflection, discussion, and quiet time, all designed to support them in developing a deeper understanding of the sacrament they are preparing to receive.
Father John Vespa will guide the students through faith-filled experiences that encourage them to think about the importance of the sacrament in their lives and strengthen their relationship with God and others.
The retreat will also provide opportunities for students to ask questions, share their thoughts, and grow in their understanding within a supportive and welcoming environment. Lunch will be provided for all Year 4 children and they can wear casual clothes on the day.
Thank you Year 3DG & 1/2CW
Last Thursday, 3DG and 1/2CW attended Mass. Thank you to Father Tien for celebrating Mass with us. We also thank the parents and carers who joined us for this special occasion. Your presence and support help strengthen the connection between our school, parish, and families, making these celebrations even more meaningful for our students.
Serve at the Altar
We invite young people in our parish to become Altar Servers, a special way to serve God and our community at Mass. Altar Servers assist the priest and take part closely in the liturgy, growing in faith, confidence and teamwork while building friendships along the way. It is a meaningful leadership role where young people can deepen their love of the Eucharist and grow in service of others. No experience is needed, training will be provided. Young people from Year 4 and above who have received First Eucharist are welcome. Join us and be part of something special! For more information, please contact the Parish Office: bmcc@cam.org.au 9380 1023.
Upcoming School Mass Times
Throughout the term, students will have regular opportunities to attend Mass as part of their faith journey and spiritual development. These celebrations provide meaningful moments for prayer, reflection, and connection with our school community. The following schedule outlines the allocated times for each class to participate in Mass and other prayer experiences. We warmly invite parents and carers to join us whenever possible, as your presence helps to enrich these special occasions and strengthens the partnership between home, school, and parish.

What’s happening in Religious Education at St Fidelis Year 1
The Year One students have been exploring a variety of Scripture readings and making meaningful connections between the teachings of Jesus and their own everyday experiences. Through discussion, reflection, and shared learning, students have been developing a deeper understanding of how Scripture guides us to live with kindness, compassion, and respect for others.
As part of National Reconciliation Week, the students reflected on and unpacked the parable of the Good Samaritan. Through this Scripture story, they explored the importance of forgiveness, showing kindness to others, and helping those in need. Students discussed how the Good Samaritan demonstrated care, compassion, and respect towards someone who was different from him, reminding us that we are all called to love and support one another regardless of our differences.
Throughout Reconciliation Week, students also deepened their understanding of the histories, cultures, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. They participated in learning experiences that highlighted the importance of respect, inclusion, and reconciliation, while recognising the rich cultural heritage of Australia's First Nations Peoples. To conclude their learning, students reflected on what they had discovered about caring for others, respecting differences, and valuing Country. They then worked collaboratively to create and document their own class Acknowledgement of Country, expressing their appreciation and respect for the Traditional Custodians of the land and their ongoing connection to Country, culture, and community.
God bless and have a great week.
