Year 1 News
What a great week of learning it has been in Year 1 this week!
As People of Faith, we have been continuing to learn about the importance of National Reconciliation Week and how we can respect and value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, and histories. We connected our learning to the Gospel story of The Good Samaritan, reflecting on how he showed kindness and respect to someone who was different. As thinkers, we discussed and shared ways we can follow his example by showing respect and understanding towards Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures, and towards everyone in our community. We made our thinking visible by recording this on a wooden hand. These will be displayed in the Junior Learning Area.
In TRP, some of us have been exploring gratitude and learning about the many benefits of laughter. We discovered that laughter helps us appreciate the joyful moments in our lives and can boost our mood by releasing endorphins and helping us feel happy both inside and out.
Others have been learning about empathy and the different ways we can support and care for others. We explored how empathetic thinking helps us understand how someone else may be feeling and encourages us to choose positive actions that help others feel supported, valued, and included.
Congratulations to 1AM on their first assembly for the year! Everyone did a fantastic job, reading with confidence and enthusiasm, and it was wonderful to see their hard work and learning shared with the school community.
