Year 4 News

It’s hard to believe we are already in Week 7 of Term 2! Time is flying as our Year 4 learners continue to engage in meaningful and purposeful learning across all areas of the curriculum. This week, students have been building on their understanding of the Sacrament of the Eucharist, strengthening their writing skills, and continuing to grow both academically and personally as learners.

As writers, we have been using a rubric to self-assess our work. This has helped us identify our strengths and areas for growth while building independence and ownership of our learning. We are developing a clearer understanding of what quality writing looks like and how to use feedback and success criteria to improve our writing.

As people of faith, we have been deepening our understanding of how we are called to live in relationship with God and with one another. Through our Eucharist preparation, we are exploring how Jesus teaches us to live with love, compassion, and service, and how we can bring these values into our everyday lives.

In our TRP learning, we have been exploring the difference between being mindful and having our minds full. This week, we have built on this learning by recognising that some situations in life can cause parts of our brain to feel scared, worried, angry, or threatened. We are also learning to use mindfulness strategies to help calm our brains and respond to challenges in a more balanced and thoughtful way.

Looking ahead, Ms Karalis will be on leave for the final week of term. During this time, Ms Zorzut will be teaching the class for all of Week 10. Therefore, we will have our Student-Led Conversations in Week 1 of Term 3. Further details will be shared with families shortly via email.
