Oscar Campbell - Kingston swimming carnival
Congratulations to all of our teams who went out on Interschool Sport this term. Your dedication to extra-curricular activities is commendable!
Term 1 teams:
The Sandringham Senior A's and B's both put in their best performances yet in the Kingston region futsal tournament in March, with both sides qualifying for the semi-final stage. Following a strong group stage in which the team scored 15 goals across three games, they were unfortunate to go out to McKinnon SC in the semi-final, coming back from 3-0 down at half-time to give the pre-tournament favourites a huge scare, eventually being edged out in a 6-5 thriller after some heroic saves from the McKinnon keeper. The boys, who were all from Year 11 and playing against squads of 11s and 12s, confirmed the bronze medal with a win over Bentleigh SC in the 3rd-place playoff. In the end as we boarded the team bus back to Sandy the feeling was a combination of disappointment, pride and optimism, summed up by captain Kai Hunter when he declared that "next year is our year!"
Sandringham College and the extended community should be so proud of the 42 students who represented the college on 21st March. Our students were model citizens and exemplary in behaviour and manner.
Oscar Campbell, Sienna Barkei, Andy McCormack and Adam Barlow will be going through to the Southern Metropolitan finals just before the Easter holidays.
We will be making a request for up to 8 students to go through to the next round of Diving as well, which happens early in term 2.
Honorable mentions:
Are you a keen surfer?
Do you own your own board and wetsuit?
Would you like to represent Sandringham College at the Victorian School Surfing Championships?
If you answered yes to the 3 questions above, please email Erin Carter and let her know you're interested in being a part of our surfing team. For our surfing team to go ahead, we need a combination of students from both Bluff Rd and Holloway Rd campuses. Plus a mix of genders.
The competition is in May at Woolamai, Phillip Island
