Year 7 Camp

Ned Vasey  I Head of Sub-School 7-9

Following another fantastic time at Year 7 camp late last month, the Year 7 team asked a few students to tell us what they thought about our time away at Forest Edge. Here's what they had to say:

"Year 7 camp this year was so amazing, being with a new year level, meeting new people and learning new things about them. Everyone was so encouraging and kind, I know in my group that everyone wanted each other to try everything and do their best! Some of my personal highlights were riding on the flying fox across 300 metres and the high ropes course, watching everyone complete and help each other with the high ropes on the best way to go. At night time after dinner the Year 9 peer support leaders ran activities such as musical chairs, dodgeball and much more. In free time I had so much fun playing basketball and cage soccer, the pressure and intensity was fuelled by all the encouraging teammates!! Year 7 Camp was overall amazing!!" - Bailey Calleja

"Forest Edge School Camp was an absolute blast! Spending two nights surrounded by the beauty of the forest was such a refreshing change from the classroom. On the 29th of February the Year 7 cohort left to go to Forest Edge Camp. The weather was great so we were outside from dawn to dusk participating in all sorts of activities. River rafting was my favourite as it added an extra layer of excitement as we paddled our way through rushing rapids, shouting and laughing as we navigated the twists and turns of the waterways. On the second night we showcased our talent and creativity on our memorable talent show. From singing to dancing to comedy skits, each performance brought laughter and applause. After the talent show, students got to choose if they wanted to stay back and watch a movie or go on an exciting bush walk under the stars. My friends and I went on the walk and it was truly one to remember. As a team we walked up the mountain until we reached the top and lay down and watched the bright, shimmering stars. After dazing at the stars for a bit Mr Mac gave us a very inspirational speech about, "it's not about when you get there, it's about how you get there." Under the stars we lay and let the words sink in. The night was filled with laughter, applause, and unforgettable moments that added an extra layer of fun to our already amazing experience at Forest Edge School Camp. The next morning we woke up to the loud music that the year nines were playing in our cabins, we packed up our bags and went to breakfast and participated in our final activties. From dawn till dusk, Forest Edge School Camp was an unforgettable adventure that pushed us out of our comfort zones, brought us closer together as a group, and left us with memories to last a lifetime." - Kristina Kiseleva

"During the Year 7 Camp, the teachers, Year 9 Peer Support Leaders and Year 7’s all had a great time at Forest Edge, as we all participated in several team inclusive activities run by the wonderful staff and the night activities run by the amazing Year 9’s and Teachers. We were all put in separate groups with 2 -3 Year 9’s which ran the group with the teachers and staff. Activities which we did in our groups were, river sledding, 9 square, bush walks, high ropes, low ropes and team games, flying fox and much more. Everyone enjoyed the activities and especially the food, it was amazing. I hope everyone had a memorable time and are looking forward to the next camp." - Aidan Kourlas

"We went over three days, February 28th till March 1st. On the bus we could barely contain our excitement, we were very eager to do the zipline, river sledding, night walks, high ropes and most of all, cabins. The cabins were split into two different locations, the girls were down by the river near the high ropes and the boys were near the playground backing onto the field. The meals provided by the camp were delicious, and the morning and afternoon treats were also very yummy. We were split into activity groups and went off to do archery, high ropes, low ropes, bushwalking, river sledding, zipline, discgolf, nine square, teambuilding and hut building. We were all disappointed it was over on the bus ride home, because we had made so many great memories with new friends that will last a long time." - Olivia Martin
