Great News!!!
Sandringham College now subscribes to World Book Online. And that is great news because all good research of a topic begins with a solid definition or a clear overview of the topic. Encyclopedias and dictionaries offer clear, concise information about a topic and are a good starting point.
World Book online provides fact-checked articles that are relevant and also updated in real time. In addition, students can access primary source documents, look up definitions with the electronic dictionary and download pictures and videos to use in their work. Students can also use the read aloud feature and translate the content into different languages. The platform even offers the option to change the font to open dyslexic font for students who may need additional support.
This resource can be accessed via the Sandringham College Library Website. It is password protected by the generic password used by all password protected pages on the library website.
All library staff are available to assist students with this invaluable resource.
At Sandringham College, we are passionate about literature and believe that reading is truly magical. That is why we LOVE the 2024 book week theme Reading is Magic. Wewill be celebrating the magic of reading all year. This week the shortlist for CBCA Book of the Yearwas announced as was The Aurealis Awards (the recognition of Australian Science fiction, fantasy and horror writers). Students at Bluff Road recently took part in a Zine Workshop as an activity during lunchtime.
What is a zine?
A zine (pronounced zeen) is an independently or self-published booklet, often created by physically cutting and gluing text, icon, and images together onto a flat booklet. The publication is usually folded and stapled.
