7 to 9 Campus. Wrapping up the academic odyssey of term one ........

Mrs Vivienne McElwee, Head of 7-9 Campus

Welcome to the finale of another remarkable term at Sandringham College.  As we bid adieu to the hustle and bustle of the past several weeks, it's time to reflect on the incredible journey we've embarked upon together so far this year. From the first day of classes filled with anticipation to the final moments of this term, brimming with achievements and fond memories, our school community has once again demonstrated resilience, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

As we turn the page to a well-deserved break, let's take a moment to applaud the dedication and hard work of each member of our school family. Together, we've reached new heights – academic, sporting and creative - embraced opportunities for learning and innovation, and strengthened the bonds that make our community truly exceptional.

A big thankyou to all staff and students who were so fantastic during the NAPLAN process. It takes a village to run such a big process so effectively and that was certainly the case. Our students were very focussed during each test and should be congratulated for their efforts. As previously explained, NAPLAN results provide invaluable insights into the academic progress and areas of improvement for our students. By analyzing these results, we gain a deeper understanding of their strengths and challenges in key areas such as literacy and numeracy. This data empowers us to tailor the teaching strategies, interventions, and support systems to better meet the diverse needs of our students, ensuring that each individual receives the targeted assistance required to thrive academically.

The revitalized Student Leadership Team, spearheaded by Leading Teacher Tim Clifton, has accomplished remarkable feats this term. These young individuals have been empowered not only to initiate innovative projects throughout the school and drive enhancements but also to engage in various aspects of school life and community endeavours. The recent celebration of Neurodiversity Week was brimming with enjoyable activities and opportunities to rally behind our neurodiverse friends and community, all while raising funds for the admirable cause, Yellow Ladybugs. A heartfelt thank you extends to all families who contributed to the bake sale, which proved to be a tremendous success. Please don’t forget to collect your “containers” from the office. We are continually grateful to our community for the unwavering support we receive during these endeavours.

We hope that the majority of you were able to arrange interviews with some of your young person’s teachers during the Student-Teacher-Parent Conferences in the final week of term. This presents an invaluable opportunity to gather feedback from teachers and receive suggestions for ongoing improvement as we progress throughout the school year. We trust that your child also participated in these interviews alongside you, gaining insight from their teachers' feedback and contributing their own thoughts and suggestions to help them strive for their best. If you were unable to connect with your preferred teachers, please don't hesitate to approach your Year Level leader. You can request them to gather feedback from specific teachers you'd like to hear from. They will make every effort to provide you with information at the earliest opportunity. However, please understand that this may not be feasible with all teachers.

I wish you a restful break and hope that you all have the opportunity to rest and reset, before we head into the new term.
