As we approach the upcoming holiday break, I wanted to take a moment to emphasize the importance of finding a balance between productivity and relaxation. While holidays are undoubtedly a time for rest and rejuvenation, it's also crucial for students to maintain some level of academic engagement to ensure they return to school ready to hit the ground running.
I do, however, understand that striking the right balance between work and downtime can be challenging, especially during the holidays. Encourage your child to dedicate some time each day to academic pursuits, whether it's reading for pleasure, practicing math problems, or engaging in creative projects. Setting aside structured study periods can help prevent the holiday slide while allowing for that important down time.
In addition to the academic endeavours, safety remains a top priority, especially during this time of year. Whether traveling or staying close to home, please do all you can to stay safe and well.
As we navigate this holiday break, let's keep in mind the words of Anne Lamott, who said, "Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you." I encourage you to take time to unplug, recharge, and find moments of joy and peace amidst the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.
Year 12 Formal - locked and loaded
My thanks goes out to Denholm , Yunyun and the team on the year 12 Formal committee for piecing this event together. It will be held at Southern Golf Course again this year and is scheduled for the 24th April. If last year's Year 11 semi formal was anything to go by, it promises to be a wonderful evening.
I would like to fully report on the staff student basketball match held at Holloway road as a part of neuro-diversity week; alas my memory of it has faded somewhat. I can report that no teachers (or students) were harmed during the event and that despite a few aches and pains, all staff were upright and fit to teach in the days after the match. I have no recollection of the score, but it felt close to me. Thanks to the student leaders for making this event, and the other offerings for this important week, together. Great work!
