Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Friends of DPS,
We have had a fantastic first Term at Doncaster Primary School with many highlights.
Congratulations to all the Year 3 ad 5 students and teachers for completing NAPLAN. This is always an important time of year for students to remain focused and demonstrate their skills.
On Thursday 27 March we celebrated the retirment of a long serving member of DPS, Barry Beechley. Barry's career extends back to 1968 where he spent many years as a classroom teacher before numerous leadership roles across the state of Victoria. Barry has been working at DPS in maintenance and grounds since 2015. Having seen photos of the grounds before Barry started, the school grounds have completely transformed, something I know all students, staff and parents value. We would like to thank Barry for his time, care and passion that he has applied to his role and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
The Australian Dental Health Van has been at DPS since Thursday 27 March, an opportunity many families have capitalised on.
We had an exciting morning today for the Easter Bonnet Parade for Foundation to Level 2 students. It was great seeing so many families in attendance. Thanks to Miss francis for organising this event.
As many parents would appreciate, the school drop off zones are at times challenging. On behalf of the school I would like to thank Mal Dabab who after years of communication with the local council, has been successful in having a 'Kiss and Go' zone installed in Hummel Way. More information below:
The Year 6 students are excited for their Canberra Camp which starts on Monday 28 April. A huge thanks to Niky Corfios who has organised this camp ably supported by the Level 6 Team.
In other news, Jim Hill will be taking further leave in Term 2. I am excited to be continuing in the role of Acting Principal at Doncaster Primary school for this period.
On behalf of all the staff, we'd like to thank students and parents for a great first term. We wish you all a happy holiday and we look forward to seeing you all back on Tuesday 22 April for another great term at DPS.
Determination Pride Success
Jarod Ryan
Acting Principal
