Assistant Principal Report

Thank You for a Fantastic Term 1!

As we wrap up an exciting Term 1, we want to extend our gratitude to our wonderful DPS community, parents and students for their support and dedication.

This term, students engaged in fantastic well-being programs such as Art for Wellbeing, where creativity was used as a tool to express emotions and build resilience. Read below some of the comments from our students,

Zara- I learnt that when I am upset I can tell my teacher and she is always be there to help me calm down.

Sarina- It was very relaxing and the best part was taking my artwork and personal journal home.

Oskar- When you are angry you should take a deep breath.

Jazmin - I learnt there is many ways to calm yourself down.

Another great example of the school's focus on well-being is the Students vs. Teachers basketball game end of every term. It’s always a blast, bringing everyone together. Both teams were winners and DPS students were cheering non-stop, making it a fun and unforgettable event for everyone! Thank you to all our  fabulous players!

Our staff have also completed a 10-week intensive training on Wellbeing HITS, ensuring these strategies are embedded in every classroom. Some key High-Impact Teaching Strategies (HITS) include building strong relationships with students, fostering peer connections, setting and maintaining clear classroom expectations, promoting inclusion and a sense of belonging and empowering students to develop self-efficacy.

We are incredibly proud of our teachers for their commitment to continuous learning, for being inclusive in their classrooms, and for closely monitoring student wellbeing to support every child’s success.

As we head into the holidays, we encourage families to enjoy some quality time together—whether it’s going for a walk, having a picnic, playing board games, cooking together or simply enjoying a good book. These small moments create lasting memories and strengthen family bonds.

Wishing everyone a safe, happy and restful holiday! We look forward to another great term ahead.
