Netball

The Girton Netball Club entered 12 teams with the Bendigo Strathdale Netball Association this season.

Four Junior School teams were entered with 3 teams playing in non scoring sections.

Girton Navy coached by Ms. Vanessa Juergens and Mrs. Maria Krelle, played in the Year 6B Grand Final. They played an excellent match but ultimately lost the Grand Final to Holy Rosary Thunder 30-21. Zoe Holland 6 Jenkin was awarded Best player for the finals.

A Year 12 team was entered in the midweek mixed competition with Mrs. Trudy Matthews as Team Manager. They thoroughly enjoyed their netball and had fun competing in this competition.

Seven Senior School teams played throughout the season, with four of those playing in the finals series. Of those, three played in Grand Finals.

Girton Gold coached by Mrs. Rachelle Fisher played in the Section 1B Reserve Grand Final but were defeated in a closely contested match by South Bendigo Tomlins 38-33. Ella Fisher 12 Riley was awarded Best Player in the finals.

Girton Silver coached by Mrs. Benet Whyte played well all season, finishing first in their section. They played an outstanding match in the Grand Final and were premiers defeating Strath Hurricane 37-29. The Best Finals player was Jessica Dalgleish 11 Jones.

Girton Diamonds coached by Mrs. Jan Dillon commenced the season in the 13/A Section but after grading were placed in a higher section. They had a superb season, finishing second on the ladder  and playing in the Grand Final. They were ultimately defeated by Jets Rubies 48-26 with Megan Wilson 7 Jenkin being named Best player in the finals series.

It was a most successful season for the Girton Netball Club.
