Ricmond Player Visits Girton

Year Eight Frew and Jones had a visit from Andrew Collins (Millward, 2008), an old Girtonian who played football with Richmond in the AFL. The students were doing some research on life in 1919, compared to 2019, as part of their English work. They are studying ‘Runner’, by Robert Newton, and were interested to learn of the different methods used to train elite athletes now, compared to approaches used one hundred years ago. Andrew entertained the students with anecdotes from his experiences as an AFL football player, as well as snippets from the journey he has taken since leaving Girton.

We thank him for the wonderful session he gave these students.
