House Singing
The Annual House Singing Competition was “sung and awarded" last term. This competition is the true indicator of a student cohorts pride in their Girton family. The Headmaster in his closing remarks spoke of the evident pride and passion in each of the performances and the respect shown for the other houses by the audience.
House Captains spent many hours creating props, choreographing moves and cajoling the less musical into confident performances.
The musical offerings were:
Jones House “You Give Love a Bad Name“ by Bon Jovi
Aherne House “Gives you Hell” by All American Rejects
Frew House “September” by Earth, Wind and Fire
Jenkin House “The Four Chord Song” by Axis of Awesome
Riley House “Holding Out for a Hero” by Bonnie Tyler
Millward House “Aussie Shake-Up” - three songs:
• Land Down Under - Men at Work
• Power and the Passion - Midnight Oli
• You’re the Voice - John Farnham
The winning House was Riley, with the Blue House given the opportunity to perform an encore to finish off what was a wonderful afternoon.
