FRENCH

Poetry Finals

On Sunday 24 July, selected year 7 and 8 students of French attended the Alliance Française centre in St Kilda to take part in the French poetry recital finals. It was great to see the students and their parents looking so excited and happy.  Tasty authentic French croissants were enjoyed by all. Whatever the outcome of the finals, these students are already winners having achieved 20/20 in the first round.  Congratulations to:

Zoe Bentley 7G, Abe Eduard 7A, Imogen Brown  8F, Louise Casey 8B, Janu Jayaraman 8G, Marlee Lange Pirrie  8C, Mariam Pileggi 8F, Lorne Whytcross 8F.

Year 9 and 10 finalists, Izaac Moran 9F, Alana Whitehead 9C, Angela Bocquet 10A and Nikko Riazi 10G, took part in their finals in August as did year 11 and 12. We wish them the best of luck. Final results will be sent in late September.

La France in Melbourne

At the start of Term 3 the year 10 class and I (Madame Hermence) swapped our normal class room for the setting of a French Crêperie in the city for our double French lesson on a Friday.  We met at Roule Galette in Flinders Lane, an award winning French crêperie, to experience a bit of ‘la France’ in Melbourne. The staff were very French and the food delicious.

While students had a great time, they also met some young French people who were literally ‘in tears’ weeping about the sad situation with a recent attack in Southern France.  Students had a glimpse of a very real French experience.
