WORK EXPERIENCE

A Great Opportunity

Work experience gives year 10 students a chance to work in different industries. Students have the freedom to choose the path they would like to take. Throughout the week they delve into various tasks that can be anything from packing shelves in Coles to helping in Primary school classrooms.

Often it is the student’s first time working, giving them valuable insight for the future. Depending on the type of work placement, a part time job may be offered to those who show they have put in effort. Work experience is a great opportunity for year 10s to explore their interests.

For my work experience I chose to go to a pet shop called Best Friends. The things I had to do were animal husbandry (which is cleaning cages and feeding the animals), packing stock on shelves, brushing fluffy bunnies, and helping out with other tasks that needed to be done. I really enjoyed my experience at the pet shop and was glad to have chosen it. At the end of the week I was told that if I ever wanted a job there I was welcome.
