VOLLEYBALL

Victorian Volleyball Schools Cup

In late July, Kew High School had 15 volleyball teams participating in the Victorian Volleyball Schools Cup tournament. This event boasts age groups from under 14s up to Open age and has a range of divisions (Honours, Div 1, Div 2) for each age group. Overall 164 teams participated in the event showcasing the best school volleyball teams in the state. The reason for this is because schools from the government, independent and catholic systems all enter the tournament because it is a qualifying event for the Australian Schools Cup tournament which is held in December.

Draws saw games starting at 8am each day, running up to a 9pm start time. Each day students were required to play and do duty (referee and score) for their opponents. Staff couldn’t have been more proud of their teams and the way our students conducted themselves.

Congratulations to all students who participated. It was a fantastic weekend and we had our best results so far. We medalled in the following ages and divisions:

Open Girls Honours – GOLD

U16 Boys Div 1 – GOLD

U16 Boys Div 1 (our year 8 team) – SILVER

U16 Girls Div 1 - SILVER

Open Girls Div 1 – BRONZE

U15 Girls Div 1 – BRONZE

And close 4th place to Open Boys Honours, U16 Boys Div 1, U14 B Div 2.

Thank you to the following staff: Stuart Adderley, Penelope Cleghorn, Elisa Catanzariti, Tom Williams, Ben Abbott, Michael Brandt and Daniel Norton, who all put an incredible amount of time and work into coaching and helping out with the Volleyball Program.
