Congratulations Year 10 Debaters

Congratulations to Nikko Riazi, Tara Pringle and Zac Holland our year 10 Kew High School 1 C grade team for being top of the debating ladder in the Ivanhoe Region of the Debating Association Victoria (DAV) Debating Contest. At the DAV finals in August, on the topic: "That click bait is bad for journalism," they were narrowly defeated by Strathmore Secondary College by one point. I am very proud of our team competing against some of the top debating schools in the competition.

Model UN

Students can learn about diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations and enhance their public speaking skills by participating in the Model UN. This year it was held at Melbourne University Law school.  Kew High School teams competed as Venezuela and Uruguay. Well done to Nikko Riazi and Tara Pringle the Honourable delegates for Venuezuala and Ally Pappas and Sky Laing the Honourable delegates for Uruguay.

Legacy Junior Public Speaking Contest

We congratulate Ananya Goswami, Imogen Groenhout and Lily Massey for their great prepared and impromptu speeches.  All the prepared speeches were of a very high standard.  The impromptu topic was "Patience" which proved to be quite a challenge for a lot of the speakers.

Congratulations to Aaron  Korczak-Krzeczowski for winning the Legacy Junior Public Speaking Contest hosted at Kew High.  In a field of 16 speakers from Kew High, Balwyn High, Trinity Grammar and Mentone Grammar,  Aaron and a Balwyn student were announced the winners and progressed through to the Preliminary final.

I am thrilled to announce that at the Preliminary final of the Legacy Junior Public Speaking contest held at Dandenong RSL, Aaron won.  His prepared topic about "Men's shed movement" and his impromptu topic on "Is it a need or is it a want?" blazed the trail for him to progress to the State Final along with two other speakers.  The final will be held at the Telstra Conference Centre on 21 October. Well done Aaron!
