2026 Staff Update

New appointments

New Year appointments

As the end of the school year edges ever closer, we have a few staff moving on to pastures new next year and several new staff joining the St George’s family.

Mr Aaron Hancockwill be moving to a Head of Humanities and Languages position at John Wollaston Anglican Community School next year, a school closer to home and his family but still part of AngliSchools. We wish him well. Mr Anthony Bochrinis, having spent the last 12 months modelling his own business venture, on what I am now calling a sabbatical year, has pivoted his leadership coaching courses to being delivered via an online platform and I am delighted to announce that he will be returning to the role of Dean of Teaching & Learning from the beginning of 2026.

Mr Tim Hayward has been promoted internally to the position of Associate Dean of School Operations from the start of next year. Miss Giorgia Bakeberg will be joining us as the newly appointed Head of Year 11 & 12. She comes to us from Canberra Grammar School where she is currently Deputy Head of Boarding and a Science & Maths Teacher. Previously from WA, Miss Bakeberg is returning home in accepting this promotional role.

Mr Michael Newton has made the difficult decision not to return to St George’s following his long service leave. He has chosen to undertake his PhD studies full time at the University of Melbourne. Mrs Lynette Taylor will now take on the substantive position of Head of Music and Mrs Jess McGaw the role of Head of Dance & Drama. These changes also mean that Miss Tia Scott will be continuing in the Music Department on a permanent contract next year.

Mr Richard Truong has decided to return to the Department of Education after two years of teaching with us here at St George’s. He has accepted an offer of employment at Mount Lawley Senior High School and we wish him all the best as he moves on in his career. Mr Pasquale Sansalone will be commencing with us in the Mathematics Department in 2026, joining us from Hale School where he has been teaching Mathematics across Years 7 -12 for the past 20 years.

Miss Abbey Tobin is leaving us to travel for an extended period following her wedding at the end of this year. Miss Tobin joined us from Esperance Anglican Community School and we will be sad to see her leave, but adventures anew await her outside of the classroom. Mrs Meghan Evans has been appointed to the English Department joining us from Living Waters Lutheran College where she has been teaching English across Years 7 - 12 for the past four years as well as being their Head of Year 7. Previously she was a Teaching Fellow at UWA within the tertiary sector and she’s super excited to be joining our English Teaching Team.

Mr Hiep Nguyen has been appointed to lead our Materials and Design Department creating our woodwork workshop in the basement at 441 Murray Street from the start of next year. Mr Nguyen joins us from Lake Joondalup Baptist College and previously John Septimus Roe Anglican Community School, so he knows AngliSchools well. He is already in planning mode for the projects and designs that Years 7 – 10 will create next year in his classes.

Miss Deidre Bourke, who is currently covering Mrs Wilma Ong’s long service leave, will continue with us next year teaching Humanities & English due to our increased enrolments. She is an experienced HASS and English teacher from Ireland whom we are delighted to be staying with us for the next few years.

Mr Massimo McKie has been appointed into our Science & Maths Departments due to our increased student numbers in 2026. Mr McKie has undertaken relief for us in recent months as well as completing his practicum for his Master of Teaching. He was himself a graduate of St George’s Anglican Grammar School, so it is wonderful to be able to welcome him back to the school as a full-time teacher.

We look forward to welcoming these new members of staff next year and wish our departing staff all the very best for the future.

Mrs Tina Campbell

Principal
